Life // A So-Cal Summer

It’s easy to lose track of seasons living in Los Angeles, where the sun shines almost every day and the weather remains consistently blissful. Yet it’s felt more like summer this year than ever before, thanks to splendid days filled with bike rides, baseball games, hikes, concerts, treats, and picnics with friends. I’m incredibly grateful for the past couple of months – for all of the people who have graced my life and for the adventures I’ve shared with them. It’s truly been a delight.

I leave today for a month and a half of photographing on the east coast – the longest stretch of time I’m going to spend in New England since I moved to LA over three and a half years ago. I’m excited to be with my family, to document gorgeous weddings, and to watch the leaves change color. It doesn’t hurt that pumpkin flavored coffee will be at Dunkin’ Donuts too! While it’s going to be admittedly strange being away from this city that has somehow grown into my home, I’m being very mindful to stay present and to enjoy whatever each new day brings as I continue my journey on this dream career path.

Before I go – here is a (long) look at this joyous summer in So-Cal – a mix of snapshots, Fuji Instax photos, and Instagrams. Kicking it off with a lazy Sunday at the newly re-opened Echo Park Lake in June…

Perhaps the most awkward Instax of all time:
An amazing 4th of July at Paul’s house – see the full recap here!
Ellen’s birthday!
Red Sox vs. Angels Game:
This is what Ryan looks like when the Red Sox score:
Awesome bike riding with Megan:
Another fabulous bike ride from Redondo to Manhattan Beach with Amanda (and my never-ending love for a teal VW bus):
Sunny decor:
Lots of photoboothing (yes I made up a verb), especially with John Paul before he moved back to New England!
A much anticipated road trip adventure with Jessica:

(I would like this sign for my life, please)
I spy Jess!
So much confetti fun with Kelly of Studio DIY!
Paul and I went to see The Postal Service. DREAM COME TRUE. They crossed out our tickets at Will Call, making them extra special – Instagram worthy!
The very first pizza night/large group gathering at Corelyn and my apartment:
(Please note diner mug collection, aka my pride and joy)

Stolen from Jeff – Paul and Ryan documenting my newly built photo wall!Instagrams from an incredible Topanga Canyon hike (complete with spirit stick):
Crafting adventures at West Elm with Studio DIY & Lovely Indeed:
A makeshift DIYed tambourine for the Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros show at the Hollywood Bowl!
That smile…!
I left for an east coast visit for two weeks, and when I returned Rebecca was in LA! Late night froyo was an immediate must. And yes, it’s totally normal to bring a giant Fuji Instax camera into Yogurtland.
We also had a rendez-vous in Beverly Hills with Ellen!
Pumpkin Sprinkles cupcake, divine.
I love a good lunch date – especially if Jess is there looking ultra cool and nonchalant.
Obsessed with this cafe. It will be featured on Garlic My Soul, no doubt!
Brie and fig sandwiches make Jess so happy!
To close out, here’s a super moody photo of Mike after we saw the sensational Goat Rodeo Sessions at the Hollywood Bowl. My camera wasn’t allowed inside this round, so we snuck back in afterwards!
So there you have it, an amazing summer in Los Angeles. What’s incredible to me is that so much went undocumented too – delicious meals, dancing nights, karaoke, drives through the city – these past few months have been jam-packed with so much goodness. Thank you to everyone who has made them so wonderful!

East coast, I’m coming for you now! LA, see you October 16th!
