Life // Taking A Leap

This has been my computer background for the past week – it’s been been an encouraging reminder to myself as I embark on a new adventure. After a lot of thought and consideration, I’ve decided to leave my position as a photographer for Forever 21’s website to jump full throttle into my freelance career.

I’ve kept my fulltime job very separate from this blog, but I felt compelled to announce this giant life change. I have learned so much during my time with F21 and am incredibly grateful that I was given such an awesome opportunity. That said, I feel like my passion lies here – with photographing love and beauty, and constantly pushing my creative boundaries to make the best images I possibly can. With meeting a new couple for their engagement photos, with shooting model tests and look books, with documenting wedding days. I’ve tried very hard to balance this along with my fulltime job, but it’s come time to make this passion a priority.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I feel pretty vulnerable admitting that here in such a public sphere, but it’s the truth. That said, I also know that this is the time to take the risk. To really give myself a shot. I can’t describe the immense fulfillment I feel after doing a photo shoot, but my happiness is undeniable. Case in point – the afternoon I spent photographing Julia and Jeremy’s Together session. Since no entry is complete without a few photos, here’s a sneak peek:
Thursday is my last day with Forever, and I fly home to NH that night to spend an entire week with my family, specifically for Grammy and Dad’s birthdays. Autumn in New England…yes please! When I get back to LA, I’m going to hit the ground running.

Thank you to my amazing loved ones who have been nothing but supportive of this decision. Without skipping a beat, they all encouraged me to take the leap. So here I go!
