A Small Taste of Home

I had the great pleasure of photographing a wedding close to my hometown in New Hampshire this past weekend. It was a whirlwind trip - I took a red eye on Friday night, photographed on Saturday and Sunday, then flew back to LA on Monday.  I'm doing the same thing again in a mere 8 days, when I go back to New England to photograph another two weddings over Labor Day weekend. You know what? I love it. I love traveling, I love having the opportunity to capture such a special day, and on top of everything, I LOVE that I get to see family and friends on the east coast.

Here are some photographs from my quick trip home (although the massive amount of Dunkin' Donuts coffee I drank went undocumented...).

Little Joys

Sometimes (okay, most times) I get caught up with my to-do list...whether it consists of projects at Forever21, photos to edit, freelance deadlines to meet, gatherings to bake for, emails to write...I pretty much never stop moving. Even though things are completely hectic right now, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being so busy, and I love that my life is so full of great things. George is dogsitting down in Manhattan Beach for the next few weeks, and I'll be on the move between there, our apartment in Silver Lake, and work Downtown. I was able to spend this past weekend with George and our new buddy, Taco, and it was the perfect balance for my long to-do list. Here are some happy, peaceful things from the weekend, starting with Mr. Taco (who hates having his photo taken): DSC_0858_blog Citrus trees around the house: DSC_0850_blog Yellow flowers: DSC_0848_blog

Ellen Goes Into the Woods

One of the best side effects of obsessively photographing my friends is that they've started to come up with their own photo shoot ideas! Ellen approached me a few months ago about incorporating some of her vintage-style furniture and accessories into a photo session. I took things one step further by suggesting we bring everything into the woods - and since Ellen is awesome, she was completely game for it!

Here are some tidbits about Ellen: she loves to write, she became a published author as a teenager, she has an affinity for pretty vintage items, and she has a perhaps not-so-secret love for sci-fi. I just love these photos of her because they're a perfect portrayal of her sweet whimsical nature. To quote a song sung on last week's episode of Glee (yes, I know, I'm a total dork), "Isn't she lovely?"
